You have the cameras and the DVR. But you want to check your shop from home or look at the gate when you're on holiday. With modern systems, connecting your CCTV to your smartphone is easier than ever, but one wrong setting can block you.
Step 1: Connect DVR to Internet
Use a network (LAN) cable to connect your DVR to your home WiFi router. The DVR cannot magically connect to your phone without internet access. Check the back of the DVR—if the little green light next to the LAN port is blinking, data is flowing.
Step 2: Download the Right App
Go to the Play Store or App Store. But which app? Here is the cheat sheet:
- Hikvision devices: Hik-Connect
- CP Plus devices: CP Plus Home
- Generic 4G cameras: Usually ICSee or CamHi
Step 3: Scan the P2P QR Code
On your DVR monitor, go to the Network settings menu and find the "P2P" or "Platform Access" section. A QR code will appear. Open your mobile app, tap "Add Device," and scan that QR code. Enter the DVR's password, and your cameras will appear in seconds.
Troubleshooting: Why Is It Offline?
- Check the LAN cable: Is it clicked in firmly on both ends?
- Check DHCP: In the DVR network settings, DHCP should be enabled (ticked).
- Check the app zone: In Hik-Connect, if you registered in the wrong region, the device won't add. You must use the "India" server.
If this seems complicated, it's not. An installer should configure all this in front of you before leaving the site. We hand over the live mobile view to every customer before we pack our tools.
